Motherhood doesn't come with a manual... and a little #TBT

Where has the time gone?
No only does it not come with a manual, if it did, the darn thing would be soooo thick you couldn't carry it around!

There are so many "if thens..." that there is NO one answer to life's twists and turns.

Recently, in her sophomore year of college, my youngest daughter came to a place, one of those BIG forks in the road.  The confusion of what was right for her, a fear of the unknown, the pressure of being someone she didn't want to be came roaring up around her threatening to swallow her up.

Our advice to her was: relax.

One of the things I'd said to her time and time again, was that decisions in life are like the fingers on your hand.  You can chose to go in all those different directions.  Once you get to the finger tip, guess what?  There's another hand and another set of directions.

As we speak, she just sent in her last paper to the school she's been attending and is packing her car for a trip 7 hours across 5 states to visit her sister in Pennsylvania.  By herself.  For the first time.  Hmmm....wondering who's more nervous?  Me, I guess.  That being said, guess we've done a good job, because she's ready to go!

What sort of advice have you received from your mom or grandmother?  What have you given to your children?

Blue Mountain Cards got in touch with me and asked if I would like to participate in the "Best Parenting Advice Mom Ever Gave" and to share pearls of wisdom on their Facebook Page.  If you do, you might win a year of Blue Mountain Cards!

I'd love to hear your thoughts - you can post them here, too!

Hugs to you all... and send ME relaxing thoughts today!

You live in New England if...

Good afternoon, friends -
I just saw this on Facebook and HAD to share...in part because we are just a wee bit away from the first day of spring  and another major snowstorm is heading our way.

Here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about New Englanders.....

If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you live in New England.
If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you live in New England. (He didn't mention the flipflop thing...)
If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you live in New England.
If 'vacation' means going anywhere south of New York City for the weekend, you live in New England.
If you measure distance in hours, you live in New England. (Is there another way?)
If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you live in New England.
If you have switched from 'heat' to 'A/C' in the same day and back again, you live in New England. (That's for sure - it's been the weather here for the past month!)
If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching, you live in New England. (Getting ready for that tomorrow...)

If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you live in New England.
If you carry jumpers in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you live in New England. (And your point is?)
If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit, you live in New England. (Hahaha....so true!)
If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow, you live in New England. (That would be Rt 47, at the bottom of my street.)
If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction, you live in New England. (Again...tomorrow is an example of that...)
If you have more miles on your snow blower than your car, you live in New England.  (Oh...if we only HAD a snowblower...)
If you find 10 degrees 'a little chilly', you live in New England.
If there's a Dunkin Donuts on every corner, you live in New England. (This was a shock to me traveling out to Pennsylvania...just sayin')
If you think everyone else has a funny accent, you live in New England.  (Yup, everyone else DOES!  But us?  We are just wicked good!)
He forgot to mention one.... if you are a Patriots fan, you live in New England!

Enjoy the rest of your day,
Carrie
